N2  - When we consider the various kinds of educational planning which are in use today, we can distinguish three main types. The first is planning with adequate facts, backed by rather voluminous statistics. This type is certainly the most desirable, but it is the one least likely to be carried into effect simply because, in practice, the necessary facts and statistical data are seldom available. The second type of planning can perhaps best be defined by the title of a book by Wolfgang Stolper, who spent two years drawing up the de- velopment plan for the Federation of Nigeria. the third type  planning is without purpose or planning for the sake of planning. Un- fortunately, there is a good deal of such planning going on today, par- ticularly the kind which makes use of the more questionable techniques of highly theoretical mathematical models and in which the basic ob- jectives get lost in a display of methodological fireworks.; Cuando consideramos los diversos tipos de planificación educativa que se utilizan hoy en día, podemos distinguir tres tipos principales. El primero es planificar con hechos adecuados, respaldados por estadísticas bastante voluminosas. Este tipo es sin duda el más deseable, pero es el que tiene menos probabilidades de llevarse a cabo simplemente porque, en la práctica, rara vez se dispone de los hechos y datos estadísticos necesarios. El segundo tipo de planificación quizás pueda definirse mejor por el título de un libro de Wolfgang Stolper, quien pasó dos años elaborando el plan de desarrollo para la Federación de Nigeria. el tercer tipo de planificación es sin propósito o planificación por el bien de la planificación. Desafortunadamente, hoy en día existe una gran cantidad de este tipo de planificación, particularmente del tipo que hace uso de las técnicas más cuestionables de los modelos matemáticos altamente teóricos y en los que los objetivos básicos se pierden en un despliegue de fuegos artificiales metodológicos
