In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, The Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit.
In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. En la antigüedad, los Anillos de Poder fueron creados por los herreros elfos, y Sauron, el Señor Oscuro, forjó el Único Ring, llenándolo con su propio poder para poder gobernar a todos los demás. Pero el Anillo Único le fue quitado, y aunque lo buscó por toda la Tierra Media, permaneció perdido para él. Después de muchas edades cayó en manos de Bilbo Bolsón, como se cuenta en El Hobbit.
En un tranquilo pueblo de la Comarca, el joven Frodo Bolsón se enfrenta a una inmensa tarea, ya que su primo mayor Bilbo le confía el Anillo a su cuidado. Frodo debe dejar su hogar y emprender un peligroso viaje a través de la Tierra Media hasta las Grietas de la Perdición, allí para destruir el Anillo y frustrar al Señor Oscuro en su malvado propósito.
